There were just enough minor flaws (3 or 4 of them)to make me not completely satisfied with the product.I wouldn't have picked this one at a store to buy.

I used a recipe that I read regarding simmering garlic covered in olive oil.Delicious.

I just don't like little pimples/dimples/not fully covered enamel spots on pots such as this.

Mario Batali 7-1/2-Quart Soup Pot, Chianti Review

I purchased this pot a few months ago, and have used it to cook chili, beans, dumplings, pasta, as well as other things.The pot is very easy to clean in the sink after normal use - but the beans did leave a residue in the bottom that I had to use some elbow grease to get off.Even though the inside is an off-white color, the chili did not stain it a bit.What I love best about the pot is its appearance.I just leave it on the cooktop all the time for decoration - it is that pretty!The size may not be appropriate for some people, as it is very large and heavy, but it has worked out well for me.I highly recommend this pot.

Mario Batali 2-Quart Sauce Pan, Chianti Review

Mario Batali's cast iron cookware is great and gives Le Crueset a run for their money. I actually like his better because the insides are lined with the beige enamel like the orginal Le Cruesets were (and I liked them better that their current black interiors). I like the longer handles and his design is superior, in my opinion. But... the handles on the covers! Mario, what were you thinking?! (I know what he was thinking, "Wow, those steel covers really look cool with my initial 'M' on them...")But they are better conductors of heat that the pans!!! When you try to remove the lid as you would normally do with any other pan, picture the German villian in "Raiders of The Lost Arc" when he's grabbing the medallian that just came out of the fireplace. Mario, I love you. You are a God when it comes to Chef-dom and even a pretty good designer, but I wish you would have the handles on your pots and pans made from Bakelight so we don't maim ourselves using them. *Otherwise*, I love all of his stuff :-)

6qt Slow Cooker- SS Review

I have owned this product for about two years now. The oval shape of the pot is nice because larger objects set done inside much easier than the conventional round crocks. The four setting are very easy to use and have built in timers. When the timer is finished, it automatically switches to warm. The buttons are smooth and the front is easily wiped clean. It has never burned anything like I have heard some people say with other type newer model crocks. My only complaint, the reason it is not getting five stars, is that even though they made the top out of glass, the made the handle out of a cheap plastic. After only using it for a few months the plastic handle broke off. Luckily it was just screwed on. I was able to go to Home Depot and pick up a ceramic knob and screw it back on.

Hamilton Beach 32190 18-Quart Roaster Oven Review

-It only heats the outer edge of the pan and not the center and this burns and dry's out the edges. Also the NON STICK FLAKES off after a half dozen uses. YUM!!YUM!!!Eat those little flakes and scrub a bit HARDER to clean it!!!Not to mention the burnt area's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I cook a lot of thing such as meatballs in speghetti sauce and vegetable soup for 12 hours +++++. I have many dutch ovens including both French brands at triple the cost.This MB 4 quart is the one that I use the most.The Chianti color and design of the pot is very appealing.It cooks evenly and cleans up extremely well.In fact, I bought another in the Espresso color for our get away place.The 6 quart is nice too, but I don't use it quite as much as the 4 quart.

Rival Oval Smart Crock Pot - Stainless Steel (5.5 qt.) Review

I purchased mine about a month ago (except mine doesn't have a digital timer). While the fact that it's bigger means more you can cook food, you have to adjust your recipes accordingly and increase the measurements. I didn't and twice my food actually BURNED! It also seemed to cook my food way faster than the time would indicate (but that could be due to the fact I wasn't putting enough food in). If you want to cook lots of food, this is for you. But if you are only cooking for two, you're better off with one of the smaller models.

Cuisinart CSC-650 Slow Cooker Review

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this slow cooker.

America's Test Kitchen recommends West Bend Versatility slow cooker. It is a truly versatile model, but I didn't like its aluminum insert. As you may know, aluminum can be hazardous to health, so this slow cooker was scratched off my list pretty quickly.

The other models I looked at were All-Clad Stainless Steel Slow Cooker (available from William Sonoma only), Farberware Millennium (also recommended by America's Test Kitchen), Cuisinart CSC-650 and various Rival models ("various Rival models" has an interesting ring to it :) ).

All of the latest slow cookers are made in China, so I was somewhat concerned about the construction quality. One of the main reasons I picked Cuisinart model was a 3-year warranty, compared to just 1 year for the rest of the competition.

Another factor was the generally positive feedback from CSC-650 owners. Cooking.com is probably a better place to check for reviews, because they let you post a review only if you actually purchased that particular item from them.

I had this baby delivered to me about a week ago, and I put it to work right away. I must say I am satisfied with my purchase decision. Having said that, here's a list of things that I do and don't like about this machine...

Do Like:
--------
- 3-year warranty (1 year for every other slow cooker I researched)

- retractable cord (I wish every appliance had it!)

- cooks well (overall), and no, it doesn't burn food as some reviewers have indicated

- construction quality seems to be good, although it is impossible to say for sure until appliance is a couple of years old

Don't Like:
-----------
- stainless steel housing gets stained quite easily, should have been more fingerprint-resistant

- "Made in China": $99 is a premium price to pay for an item that was manufactured using cheap labor; manufacturers who reap huge profits from the North American market should invest into the local labor market

- cooks most things faster than recipies (even the ones included in Cuisinart booklet) indicate, so you have to keep an eye on your food to make sure it doesn't overcook

After purchasing the slow cooker, I headed straight to the local bookstore to pick up a recipe book. I skimmed through about 6-7 titles, and ended up buying Not Your Mother's Slow Cooker Cookbook by Beth Hensperger and Julie Kaufmann. Most of its recipies are made from scratch and rarely use any canned ingridients. It also seems to have the best overall collection of recipies.

Yesterday, I had a few friends over and we had ourselves a feast. I cooked quite a few things in the slow cooker:

- Lamb Goulash (which was ruined/overcooked - the first thing I ever done in this slow cooker)

- Chicken Casseatore (not sure about spelling, it's from the Cuisinart booklet) came out nicely, it was around the time that I started looking closely after the cooking process.

- Short Ribs In Red Wine were perfect, here, again, the cooking time was 5 hours instead of 7 hours indicated in the recipe.

Overall, I am happy. I didn't experience any of the problems reported by some reviewers. I can safely recommend this appliance.

Sensio 13003 Bella Cucina 4-Quart Manual Slow Cooker Review

I have owned several crock pots over the years, but when I am cooking for just myself and my husband the bigger crock pots scorched the food because there wasn't
enough in there to properly cook slowly (I researched this online, and found crockpots need to be at least half full to cook properly). So I bought this smaller 4 qt size and it's perfect size for our smaller meals. I'v used it twice now and it cooks evenly and the meals turn out cooked just right. I like the oval design, if I wanted to, I could fit a whole chicken in it.
It has rubber on the bottom of the feet, so it will not slide around on the counter.
That said, I do wish the cord was a bit longer. And the controls are very simple; off, low, high, warm (manual). But I knew that before I bought it.
When the food was cooked, I turned it to warm, it didn't over heat the meal in the hour+ it sat waiting to be consumed, it just stayed warm, (Aw, finally). My other crock pot would be on warm, and the food would burn up within an hour. So this is a true slow cooker and for us, it works very well. And the price was unbeatable too!

I was hesitant in purchasing this item after reading the negative review, but I decided to go ahead and order it. Everyone knows you can get a lemon in any product you purchase. I love this crock pot. I've not had any problems with it. It's one of the prettiest I've ever seen and I've had a lot of compliments on it. It cooks the way it is suppose to. The one feature I like about it is you can keep food warm in it. None of my other crock pots have that feature. I can't say anything negative about it.

Hamilton Beach 33675BV 7-Quart Oval Mealmaker Slow Cooker Review

I bought this crockpot after my Rival blew itself up (shorted out) in only a year and I decided I did not want to go Rival again. We are 4 big eaters and I thought this larger size would be all the better for my family. This crock is not for the faint of heart (or novice crockpotter). It cooks very fast and needs to be very full. I used to cook a 5 lb chicken in my old Rival in 8-10 hours, well 8 hours later in the hamilton Beach, I had chicken dust. It was almost comical. I lifted the chicken out of the crockpot and the bones remained. I should say that it still tasted very good - just the texture was very soft. If you're used to cooking in a smaller or Rival brand - you'll have to relearn all your recipes. On the plus side - it really simmers a fullpot of meat sauce or pot roast. No worry of anything being underdone with this baby. Crock pot experts go for it.

RIVAL 5 1/2 QUART CROCK POT SLOW COOKER, SVC551KS Review

Seems well-made enough, however when cooking dishes on the LOW setting, the liquid boils at a moderate rate, instead of a low simmer. This means that meat dishes will overcook if left in the pot for more than a few hours. Unless you use meat with a high fat content it will dry out in this cooker if you set it on low in the morning and then return at the end of the day. Defeats the purpose and main advantage of a crockpot for the working adult.

I was thrilled to receive this from my thoughtful 90 year old mother-in-law for Christmas.Green is my kitchen color and the clear lid enables checking on the cooking process without removing the lid.I also like that it is oval and more horizontal than vertical.My old crock pot was top heavy and often tipped in the car if not secured.I put it to use immediately.Unfortunately, although used according to directions, the liner developed a hairline crack after the first use.I called Rival and they instructed me to return it to the store as defective.Well, not wanting to upset my mother-in-law and create a commotion, that may be tricky to do...I wish they had been more responsive.After all, they sold their product.Now it is at my inconvenience to make it right.They should have sent a new liner.

Sunpentown HK-4200A Stainless-Steel Induction-Ready Pot with Glass Lid Review

I can't believe this is really a Sunpentown brand. I have one of their induction cooktops so I looked for their brand of pot to be sure it would work. It was the flimsiest pan I have ever seen. However, I didn't worry becasue I remembered a rating that said that they were worried when they got it but that it worked like a dream. However, this thing sucked! It was impossible to cook without everything, including the pan, burning... It was either not cooking on Med or burning on Med High.Big waste of $$$ and time. Not enough money to warrant trying to return but don't waste your time or money.

6qt Round Slow Cooker Review

Sorry for the last persons experience, but I have owned mine for 8 years.I use them for my work which means I really make them earn their keep.I have never had a problem with them (had 2).They have been cooking wonderfully for me since the 1st day I bought them. One died because my teenage daughter was cooking on the stove one night and the slow cooker was too close to the burner. It survived 8 years of hard core commercial cooking but couldn't survive my teenage daughter for one evening. This is an awesome cooker.And it is extremely reasonably priced.

Kalorik SC-11047 3-1/2-Quart Stainless-Steel Slow Cooker Review

I've just used my Kalorik slow cooker for the first time and it did a good job.I started it out on high for the first hour and then turned it down to low, so it took 7-1/2 hours for the turkey thighs to come to 180º which made me feel like they were safely cooked long enough. I believe they could have cooked longer if necessary (if I wasn't home).Using the auto setting probably would have done the same - it is suppose to cook high at first and then turn itself down to low.

Next time I'll know how much the crock can hold so will reduce the recipe to just 3 thighs or 2 breast-halves and only 3/4 pound of vegetables instead of the 4 thighs and 1-1/4 pounds of vegetables the recipe called for.That way the crock will not be filled too high.The USDA recommends only filling a crock between 1/2 to 2/3 full.Even so, this slow cooker did not boil over despite broth being just 1/2" below the top edge.

The plastic handles never were too hot to use and the crock cooled down pretty quickly after the unit was unplugged. One thing you might want to know is that although the outside container appears to be thick stainless steel, it is actually somewhat thin - can be pushed in easily.That does not bother me, but I will be careful not to dent it.For the low cost, I would not have expected it to be more heavy duty. It does polish quite easily with a swipe by a dishcloth and looks nice.It does not slide around - stays firmly in place on its rubber feet and its glass lid did not rattle as it cooked.

Inside the box was a note warning that the dial was marked wrong - so the setting that is marked with one dot is not the low setting as the manual says - instead one dot stands for high while two dots stands for low. Also, just so you know, the manual explains that both the high and low settings allow the temperature of what is cooking to eventually come to the very same temperature - the difference is in how long it takes to reach that temperature. The manual also points out that it is the sides of the cooker that turn hot - not the bottom at all - this is so that whatever is on the bottom will not burn and stick.

The slow cooker puts off an odor and possibly smoke when first used, so it is recommended that you run it for 10 minutes in a ventilated room - this I did and found it to be true, so I am glad I opened a window nearby.

The reason I only give it 4 stars is because the manual says none of the parts can be washed in the dishwasher.This was a surprise - I would have thought the crock and the lid could have been.

Aroma 10-Cup Programmable Rice Cooker - ARC830TC Review

I had a Zojirushi NHS-10 and worked fine. I gave it to my sister-in-law...grin.

Latter I decided I wanted another cooker and just came upon this. It seemed to cheap. I ordered it from Amazon. This thing is a DEAL. We usually cook between 4-6 cups of rice at a time.It makes perfect rice, if you use the cup at 180cc..

We have 5 kids and been using this 2-4 times a month for last two years.

I like it most of all as it has limited options and cooks only rice.

Hamilton Beach 6-qt. Slow Cooker - 33166 Review

Believing that one could be confident in purchasing a "brand name" product, we recently purchased a Hamilton Beach 33130TC, which is a twin of the Model 33166 in size AND appearance.
On the first recent go-round, the slow cooker burnt (!) the roast meat, even though it was set on LOW.THis after 5.5 - 6 hours.
On the second occasion, the potatoes immersed with the roast remained raw, with other vegetables undercooked. The meat was undercooked, as well. This after seven hours on the LOW setting.

This slow cooker will join other items in our recycle bin as soon as I finish this review. IMHO, it was a waste of money, and I am disappointed that Hamilton-Beach would offer such an inferior product to the public.

Rival SCRC501-SS 5-Quart Countdown Slow Cooking Crock Pot Cooker, Stainless Steel Review

I loved my crockpot, but the crock part lasted less than two years (and yes, I followed instructions regarding not immersing a hot crock in cold water, and filling at least half way).The crock cracked slightly after using only a few times (which I read somewhere was normal). As of today, the crock part is no longer usable and I see that the company's website doesn't have replacement parts for this particular model, which means I'll have to buy an entire new slow cooker.I loved my crockpot and used it all the time, but having recently lost a job, I can't really afford to replace it at this time. I'm very disappointed. I expect my appliances to last more than a year and a half.

I received this for my bridal shower.I'd registered for the SCRC500-W but apparently, it's no longer available and this model has replaced it.I am most certainly very happy with this product.I made one of my recipes I usually cook on low on the stove top.I prepared it the night before and then in the morning, put it all into the crock pot and set it on low for 10 hours.When I got home, it was perfect.This is the first time I'd ever used a crock pot and I was very happy with the results.I very much love how once it finishes the cooking time, it will kick down to warm.It is a nice even heat that worked so well to make my dish so tender.The crock was extremely easy to clean when I was done.I'll be using this a lot.
