Rival SCR450-W 4.5 Quart Removable Stoneware Slow Cooking Crock Pot Cooker, White Review

I bought this Crock-Pot when my old one died. My previous slow cooker wasn't actually a Crock-Pot, it was just a no name slow cooker. I don't know if that matters but I can tell you I like this one MUCH more than the previous. Here's why:

1) It's white. All these stainless colored appliances look nice in pictures but are a nightmare to have in the kitchen. It's much easier to keep a white appliance clean.

2) The crockery part comes out for microwaving, cleaning, storing in the fridge, etc and can be placed in the dishwasher, including the lid.

3) 4.5 quarts is just the right size for 2 people with a small amount of left overs. It's absolutely perfect size for 4 people with no leftovers. The oval shape is nice for putting in small roasts. The round slow cookers of the same size require you cut up a roast first.

4) The heat goes up the sides. My old slow cooker only had heat on the bottom. I think when the heat is on the sides and the bottom makes things cook better or more evenly which is important if you're going to let something cook at a low temperature for 6-10 hours.

5) The price. I recently saw a slow cooker on a bride-to-be's registry that cost over $100. Seriously a slow cooker does not need to be that expensive and this is a great example.

One more thing: if you need something to cook for only 6 hours but you'll be gone for more like 8, then prep the food the night before and put the crockery part in the fridge so everything is cold. That will slow down your cook time so you can get an extra hour or so of time. Another thing you can do is get a timer for the electric outlet that will delay the start time for up to 2 hours. You can buy this at the hardware store for a few bucks. It's much less expensive than a "programmable" slow cooker.
